Pitch for Good Winners

Social enterprises raise over $30,000 in the public pitch session Pitch for Good

Following on from the Pitch for Good event that gave local female entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to raise money and bring them to life; the founders have now collectively raised over $30,000. The Pitch for Good event took place at Riverside Theatres in September.

Amongst the ideas that were pitched to the public, there were ideas for businesses that ranged from urban planning and aged care to ethical soap, sustainable renting and a not-for-profit employee network. A month-long live crowdfunding campaign commenced post the event that saw three of the five enterprises reach their funding targets.

“City of Parramatta is proud to provide valuable opportunities such as this to community members who are passionate about making the world a better place,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said.

“Pitch for Good is a wonderful platform that enables people to raise awareness of important global and local endeavours while helping those in need. Congratulations to this year’s participants. I am looking forward to seeing these incredible ventures take off.”

The three social enterprises that reached their fundraising goals are now building on this momentum and are ready to make a difference to our community:

Carers Compass - a Journey of Care by Diane Gatto

Making it easier for families to look after ageing loved ones by connecting them with the services that will best serve their needs when it matters most.

Small Shift by Julia Suh

A joint initiative of City of Parramatta Council and crowdfunding platform StartSomeGood, Pitch for Good is a community driven initiative; by the people for the people. The program provides a platform for social entrepreneurs to meet, share ideas and connect with potential sponsors, to deliver new initiatives in Parramatta.

“Pitch for Good is a brilliant way for local heroes to voice their creativity and bring ideas to life. I encourage everyone to support these inspiring businesses once they’re up and running,“Cr Wilson said.

In its third year Pitch for Good has grown from strength to strength and City of Parramatta and partners StartSomeGood are delighted with its success and impact on the community.
